My management saga eventually
begun in Gods Own Campus at National Institute of Industrial Engineering,
Mumbai. The breathtaking lush green campus of NITIE rejuvenated me as I reached
the campus with my bag and baggage.

The Classes
started with the students being bombarded with management principles. We were
all sitting in the classroom when our faculty walked in to take our first lecture
on Principles of Organization and Management. He removed his slippers, took off
his bag and then asked all of us to sit around him. It was just like the
Classic Indian GURUKUL System. Most of us already knew Dr. T. Prasad Alias Dr.
Mandi .

Then an
interesting twist of event happened. He took out a toy butterfly from his bag
and threw it at us. After that he took out few squeeze balls which had world
map printed on them, out of his bag and threw them at us. Then came the climax.
He took out the Newton’s Cradle which is a device that demonstrates
conservation of momentum via a series of swinging spheres. He shot numerous
questions at us regarding the balls, reigniting the minds of somnolent
physicists in us .It was used by some production engineering students a few
years back as their college project for every subject. They sold 5000 units of
it while in college and earned money out of it. The professor told us that just
like them, we should earn while we learn.
Actually the motto of exercise was to give an idea to students that these things can be sold on the streets. The basic aim was to educate the people who purchase these toys. The students also get to practise classroom concepts of Marketing, Principles of Management, Business Economics, and Accounting in the real field. The money generated in the activity also goes to make a tangible difference in the lives of impoverished children.
The scheme of events concluded with photography and his famous song which one of the student hummed -
Socho Becho…..Becho Seekho….Seekho Soccho……
I am looking forward to have more
fun filled classes like this in the future.
Watch Dr Mandi live in
action............
